10 Things we loved about Fushifaru Maldives

I don’t think there is a time I will stop talking about our experience at Fushifaru Maldives. We had the most epic time and I am so thankful we got to cross the Maldives of our bucket list. It can be quite difficult to pick a resort especially when you are going for the full Maldivian luxury experience. This guide should help as I have narrowed down 10 things we loved about Fushifaru Maldives.

1. The wonderful Staff

I cannot even start this part of the hotel review without mentioning our lovely hostess, Diksha. She made our stay a million times better than whatever it should have looked like.

We had no idea that everyone who stays in Fushifaru gets assigned a host. So we were quite pleasantly surprised when she introduced herself to us. She booked our experiences, advised on what was toddler friendly or not.

Diksha even made sure Adanna had a birthday cake because we had mentioned we were in Maldives to celebrate her turning 2.

House keeping was also another lovely set of staff. We especially were close to Susu who cleaned our room. As someone who loves luxury hotels, I know a hotel is more special when they offer turn down services. That fresh smell when you come back from early dinner, bed made and covers turned. When you have a little treat on the side and even your bath water run (when you ask for it). All these make the luxury experience feel even more luxury.

2. The aesthetics

Fushifaru Maldives is very beautiful. I love that it has the most wonderful mix of Maldivian and bohemian aesthetics. There are hammocks doted around the resort, palm trees in abundance and the most beautiful pool.

I cannot imagine going to the Maldives and not having an aesthetically pleasing experience. The beauty of Fushifaru was what caught my eyes when I saw it for the first time on Instagram. There are so many cute, photogenic corners especially if you’re like me who likes pretty spots.

There are so many cute areas around Fushifaru. I had seen all the cute little corners and just knew I would love it when we finally visited. Adanna loved the swings and I really loved the hammocks.

Next to the pool, the traditional boat was docked on the beach, which was a really pretty spot for photos. A walk around the resort will show so many cute, romantic and secluded corners, which I really loved.

3. The Romantic Vibes

One of the 10 things we loved about Fushifaru Maldives was how romantic it felt.

Fushifaru is a very romantic resort. I am not sure how they have been able to achieve the resort being family friendly and also very romantic. We saw couples on their honeymoon, babymoon, anniversaries and just a typical baecation. Diksha told us they also see solo travellers, which did not surprise me.

The Maldives is great for solo travellers looking to enjoy some down time. Mr E and I had our romantic moments when Adanna had her afternoon naps. We had patios in both our rooms so we were able to just relax and enjoy ourselves. I can imagine that if we were there without her, we would have still had the best time. Fushifaru has experiences tailored to couples. From the sandbank picnics to sunset dinners on the beach to floating breakfasts, there are so many romantic experiences for couples.

4. The family friendly vibes

The Maldives is generally regarded as a couple destination. However I just knew that it would work well with a toddler, I just had to find the perfect resort. Fushifaru was the perfect answer. It just seemed to be well designed for every type of traveller. The menus catered to kids, staff were especially wonderful and attentive to kids and the whole vibe was family friendly. I am not sure how to explain this but as a mum, you know when somewhere is family friendly. Even when it is not spelt out boldly, it is easy to pick out and I felt this from when we arrived.

Once we got off our seaplane, one hostess immediately said hello to Adanna and asked if she could carry her. She gave her a necklace and kept her engaged. I knew from then that it was the perfect choice.

5. The Sandbank

It is one of the most epic things to do in the Maldives. This was one of the main reasons I booked Fushifaru Maldives tbh. I remember the photo that came up on Instagram and I just thought it was epic.

10 Things we loved about Fushifaru Maldives - Sandbank Experience

Once I started to research what to do in the Maldives, I knew a sandbank experience had to be there. It is the perfect castaway experience without the fear of actually being castaway. We were given a phone and sent on our way in the boat. In a few minutes, we got to our own private island and it truly was paradise. Our experience was for 2 hours because we wanted to meet nap time of our toddler. However, there is the 4-hour experience, which must be even more epic especially for couples and friend groups.

6. Beach villa without pool

In an ideal world, I should have stayed in the beach villa sans pool. This is because we were travelling with a very active toddler. Neither Mr E nor I can swim and to be honest, having Adanna near pools gives me anxiety. We ended up staying in the overwater villas since we were on a once in a lifetime trip. However, my advice to other anxious parents is to book a beach villa without pool for peace of mind lol. In all of my research, there were very few resorts that had this option. I can imagine that beach villas with pool make for a more incredible experience. However, the fact that Fushifaru had this option was very welcome.

7. A Night Bar

This was yet another surprise that was right in front of the water villas. It had an outdoor nightclub romantic feel and if we were without Adanna, we might have indulged. We saw some couples, drinks in hand, enjoying the sea breeze on some nights. It is generally quite chill, romantic and like everything else in Fushifaru, very scenic. In the day times, the area is open and shaded by huge palm trees; makes for a lush photo spot. Adanna loved hanging out there as there was a hammock and swing, which she seemed to love.

8. Fushifaru Maldives is intimate

Fushifaru is quite small in comparison to most of the other Maldivian results. It feels like a boutique resort, which it proudly advertises. There are just over 60 rooms but it feels like there are even fewer with how spread out they are. You could walk around the entire property, which makes it possible to see everything when you visit. It does not feel overwhelming and even though it was fully booked the whole week we were there, it did not feel or look that way. We only noticed there were a lot of people when we went to the restaurant. It was mostly quiet and relaxing so you always felt quit chill.

9. The sunrises on the patio

The fact that I have now become a sunrise girl will never not cease to amaze me. One of the 10 things we loved about Fushifaru Maldives was the patio for watching sunrise or sunset. The overwater and beach villas were either sunrise or sunset facing. Which meant that you could enjoy the beauty from bed.

I got to watch the sunrise on our patio one morning and it was the most beautiful experience. I had woken up quite early and tiptoed out of the bedroom so as not to wake Mr E and Adanna. The sun was just about to rise and I sat there in silence watching as the colours changed. As it changed, the colours reflected on the sea and it was just the most perfect morning. I love that you could pick a sunrise or sunset villa fro the most wonderful, intimate experience.

10. The Food at Fushifaru Maldives

I have left this one for last because how can we not discuss the food? Luxury resorts in the Maldives are secluded to their own islands. This means that all the food you eat throughout your stay will be from one of the resorts restaurants. Well, this is unless you arrange a dinning experience elsewhere on a different island.

We had most of our meals in the general restaurant and everything was so good. There was a lot of variety and different cultures celebrated each night, which we really enjoyed. On one special night, we dined in Raakani, which had the Japanese menu, and it was lovely. The whole experience was lovely and even Adanna loved it.

10 Things we loved about Fushifaru Maldives

It was tricky to narrow our experience into 10 things we loved about Fushifaru Maldives. If I am being honest, we loved everything about that trip. Sometimes your dream trip happens and it feels underwhelming. But not this one. It happened and it still blows our mind a whole month after. Travelling to the Maldives surpassed our expectations and I’m very grateful I got to do it with the loves of my life.

Hi Bugo, I really love the way you explained and provided details on your trip to Maldives and Bali. Thank you for all the tips . I am planning my honey moon destination and I was clueless on what destination to pick until I came across a your page on IG. I would like to ask if you were going to Maldive as a couple without your daughter will you still choose Fushifaru or do you have other resort on your list .I would appreciate if you can share so I can compare. I also for Bali, what part of Bali is good for a romantic honey moon holiday . Thank you

Hey Bisola! this is such a great question. Let’s start with Maldives. It is an expensive island so budget was a huge part of our final decision. I’ll be honest, I did not research without my baby in mind as it was a trip I always knew we would do with her. Fushifaru is beautiful – there were a lot of honeymooners and couples celebrating their anniversaries. Also the overwater villas are more romantic than kid friendly if you ask me. They are secluded and feel very intimate. So while Fushifaru was booked based on my travel expectation as a family, I would not have felt out of place as a couple.

Re Bali: Ubud, to me, is the most romantic part of Bali. I researched extensively and it felt like the best part in terms of nature and feeling like you are lost in this nature paradise. The hotel you choose (and room) will complete the experience. We stayed in the Udaya so have a look. Kamandalu was another one we considered x
