My 2020 – The year that was
My 2020, the year that was something else lol. I have contemplated writing this post for the last few weeks because frankly, where does one even begin? I had a difficult 2019 and really though it could never get any worse. Ok let’s not be dramatic here but wow what a year.
For a year that was so unpredictable, I had some really high moments, which I have chosen to focus on. It is always difficult talking about the happy moments considering a lot of people’s horrible realities. However, I decided not to wallow at all especially with the 2019 I had. I knew that in spite of the pandemic, I was going to catch a handful of joyful moments to hold unto. From a few cute travels around the UK to my epic birthday celebration, 2020 was not entirely bad.
This one is for me. My diary of events in my happy place because as much as history will remember the pandemic, I want to remember all the things that made me happy in 2020!
January was quite uneventful. Maybe things happened in January but I really don’t remember that much haha!
February
In February, I went to Bath for a day with Bobo and Mr E. Bath was the first fun trip of the year and we had such a blast.
March
By March, there had already been little talks here and there about the pandemic. The madness had started to sweep through the world but I guess we had no idea what we were in for. I went on my first solo trip in a very long time. One of those ones where you just want to go away and Jersey was the answer. I came back from that trip straight into lockdown.
The entire spring and most of summer were a full blur. I cut my hair. We had a very sunny few months of picnics; my wedding anniversary in June and then I learnt to ride a bicycle in July. FUN times!

Fast Forward to August
August was my birthday month and it was the time to get out and mash up the world. Again, I’m being dramatic as always but yes, August was time to make things happen.
Exploring London was fun and I even went on a day trip to a Lavender Farm just outside London! We started our travels with the most opulent and fun baecation to Cliveden House in Berkshire. I still cannot get over how much fun that trip was. When we booked it, we had no idea what we were in store for until we got there and wow!
From Cliveden house, we spent a few relaxed days at The Rectory Hotel. This was one of those chill holidays where you go and do absolutely nothing. We spent the days in the Cotswolds just living our best lives! Then we came back home, my birthday happened and Mr E went all out with my gifts! I was so shocked at the outpouring of love on that day.
September
The weather was still shining in London and we booked a week-long trip back to the Cotswolds. This time, it was to explore a few of its villages. We ended up staying in Bourton on the Water; however we visited Castle Combe, Naunton, Stow on the Wold amongst others. It was just the perfect time away in the countryside.

October
We were well into Autumn in London and it was just so lovely pottering around to photograph pretty spots. There were some more Brunch and Afternoon tea dates and by the end of the month, we went on a day trip to Oxford. It was Bobo’s half term so we thought a day trip would be perfect. Spoiler alert, it was perfect!
Our last major staycation was a cute one. Glamping in Winchester was romantic, intimate and lush. We rented a woodland cabin and spent a long weekend relaxing. Before we came back to London, we decided to spend a few hours exploring the city of Winchester. This was yet another fun one!
November
I had a little plan for Mr E’s birthday but it was cancelled thanks to another impromptu lockdown. I think this one was lockdown 2.0 and it lasted about 2 weeks. November was not too bad tbh as everyone started to look forward to Christmas.
December
Well, that came around quickly didn’t it? Blink and you miss everything that happened in 2020. The fear of lockdown was looming again and I went out to photograph more Christmas displays around the city. I even had a few things booked – a staycation at the end of the month and some Christmas Brunches. We all know by now how December went. Boris made his announcement and Christmas was cancelled lol.
Our last big Christmas outing was to Claridge’s. Bobo, Mr E and I had a Christmas breakfast date at Claridge’s; thankfully, allowing us to see their stunning Christmas decoration for 2020!
We took the last week of December off work and just spent it doing nothing. It was actually one of my best weeks of 2020!
2021
Now, we are here. In January 2021! What has changed? Not much tbh. As depressing as it sounds, being back in a national lockdown is just the ghetto! I mean, how can we be kept hostage by a damn virus for a year? As we are getting vaccines, the virus is fighting back and developing more strains!
It is a weird thing to say but I actually am hopeful. I do have a few trips booked for late spring and summer. Even though there are a lot of things up in the air, I love that I have travel to look forward to.
Travel and movement in general are a big part of my life so I decided to focus on those in my highlights. Hopefully in 2021, we can have so much more of these beautiful travel moments. I have no vision boards or resolutions for this year as always but my word of the year is “Hope”. I am living solely on vibes this year and hopeful that every good thing will come. Hopefully, when I write my 2021 review, this hope I am currently holding on to comes through for all of us.
