Hello my lovelies!
I’m Bugo, often known as that travel mum who loves to romanticise life.
I work full time in the financial corporate world, a job I really enjoy. However, for as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved to travel too. Well, always liked the idea of travelling.
Growing up in Lagos, I was a day dreamer of some sort. I always knew I was not going to live in Nigeria forever and constantly allowed my mind wander beyond its shores. My 1st grown up trip was at 19 when I moved to Besançon (eastern France in the region of Franche-Comté) for 6 months and I had never felt so alive and free. I say “grown up” because it was the first time I wandered without my parents hovering over me and learnt to appreciate travel on my terms. I learnt so much about myself on that trip and one could say I found myself.
It helps that I’ve always been a hopeless romantic, which means that I tend to define things in my own way and live a somewhat whimsical life within my own bubble. I often wonder if it is actually a good thing?
I moved to England in 2009 and after a Master’s degree in Birmingham, I settled in London with the love of my life where we lived for over 7 years. We made the big move from city to the “suburbs”/countryside in 2021. We count ourselves lucky to have found the sweet spot between the bustle of city life where we still work and the calm of the countryside.
My husband and I actually fell in love with travel around the same time, on our honeymoon to St Lucia in 2014. Afterwards, we became more intentional; started planning better, saving for trips, and travelling together while working our 9-5s.
In 2022, we welcomed our daughter, and since then, life has become a million times more beautiful. We mostly travel with her and have become this little travel family. Thanks to her, travel has become even slower and more beautiful. It’s been wonderful to view the world through her little explorer lens.
Here, I focus on family friendly travel guides without compromising on the fun and romanticness for parents. The perfect examples are our bucket list trip to the Maldives, a slow week in Tuscany, chasing some winter sun in Marrakech and a Bridgerton inspired weekend in Bath.
So, if you enjoy romanticising life, travelling in style and some luxury, exploring the countryside, places you’ve seen on TV, historic locations and quaint towns; with a sprinkle of Black love and family, I think you will enjoy being here.
Favourite Destinations
I have travelled to some really cool places; so narrowing the list down is not quite easy.
However, these 4 destinations encapsulate what I love the most about travel – breath taking scenery, slowness and places where I have felt most welcome and wonderful.
