Room Tour: The Warrender Room at Cliveden House
When we booked Cliveden House, I was very unsure of what room to pick. All I knew was I wanted a double room and it had to be traditional. A room tour of the Warrender at Cliveden House will give you an insight to the experience we had. The other rooms are also so beautiful and there is a choice of modern or traditional decor.
I don’t think I have ever reviewed a hotel room but this one needed a blog post of its own and you will see why. There was no way I was going to give you an insight to this grandeur without a full pictorial room tour. The Warrender Room at Cliveden house is the boujeest room Mr E and I have ever stayed at. When I say boujee, I am not even playing. I felt like I was in a scene from Downton Abbey or something!
For a bit of history, the Warrender room is named after Sir George Warrender who purchased Cliveden in 1824. I guess the room is named in homage to him. Cliveden is a National Trust site so it is as British as British can get. Ok let us get into the room tour of the Warrender room at Cliveden House.

The Warrender Room is one of the spacious deluxe double rooms at Cliveden House. It was on the first floor and was in traditional finishings with a modern classic bathroom.
The Warrender Room: Living Area
This area was proper cute! It had a fireplace that actually works and above it were pictures from ages ago. Mr E and I were trying to figure out who they were but that was a waste of time haha! It had a TV and a sitting area; a couch which was made of a rich red velvet material as well and was super comfortable. There is a chest of drawers and a massive wardrobe for your clothes and belongings.
The office area had a telephone, coffee maker and an iPad to order room service. On the iPad, you could search a history of the building and other stuff, which Mr E seemed interested in.
We had a mini table which we coined “the bar”. It was used for sweets and welcome drinks so we just put our drinks on it. There was also a vanity area, which had great natural light for my make up!
THE Bed in the Warrender Room
I feel like this is its selling point. It felt like royalty sleeping in this bed. Decent hotels will give you white sheets and a comfy bed but do these comfy beds come with an arch? Do they? That arch at the top with the green (almost sage) and grey curtains gave me life, my lovelies! If you are into your period dramas, it will give you life too.
Aside from the beautiful decoration, the bed in the Warrender room was also very comfortable to sleep in. Not too soft, not too hard, just perfect! One of those beds you never want to get out of. The living area did not get much use because we stayed in bed to watch TV, eat and just chill!

The Warrender Room: Bathroom
What is the first thing you look at once you get to your hotel? For me it is the bathroom. I don’t even know why because I’m not looking for the most OTT bathroom. However, I love a cute and clean-looking bathroom. I don’t mind a traditional bath but it has to be clean and new-ish.
The bathroom in the Warrender was beautiful! It had grey marble all around it and felt proper luxury. The bathroom overlooked a side of the garden, which I found funny every time I’d go in there. I could see people walking around the garden without a care that I was up there in my bathroom. I mean, I could as well be taking a shit and they would not know. Hahahahaha I’m so silly!
Bathroom toiletries were from timeless British house, Asprey London and were replaced each time the room was cleaned. Who else rates the hotel by the type of toiletries in the bathroom?
Just me?
Now let’s discuss the services because what is a beautiful room without decent housekeeping and room service?
Staff were always smiley, polite, professional and ready to offer help.
Room Service
Due to covid, room service was free of charge. They obviously wanted people to stay in their rooms as much as possible. When we checked the room service order tab, it said it was £10 to order food to the room. However, they immediately told us that it was free. This, we obvs took advantage of on the first and last nights. They also brought us ice and a bucket when we needed some for our drinks.
Honestly, one thing I will say is that the level of service in Cliveden House is 2nd to none. Yes, it is a 5* hotel so it is expected I guess. However, this level of service was FANTASTIC and no, they had no idea I was a blogger. Staff were always smiley, polite, professional and ready to offer help. This just seemed to be how their service worked from reviews I had previously seen.
House Keeping
Due to covid, we had to book time slots for our room to be cleaned. Let me tell you, Cliveden house did not play when it came to social distancing. Or even wearing masks in public areas. For housekeeping to come in to clean our room, we had to let reception know we would be out and how long we’d be out for. This was to give enough time for our room to be cleaned. I thought it was all bloody fantastic. Room and bathroom were cleaned to perfection each time and I had no complaints with that!
There are also cute touches that come with staying in Cliveden House – well, I noticed it in our wing anyway. Our names were on the door, which I thought was so cute, personalised and so 1800s. We had welcome sweets and nuts on our “bar table” which came in handy when we needed midnight snacks. The room was also very quiet even though the front window faced the building car park. Perhaps the windows were one of those noise cancelling ones? I suppose.
In Conclusion of Room Tour: The Warrender Room at Cliveden House
When it comes to choosing where to stay on holiday, Mr E and I are very particular about our room. I understand that some don’t care since they spend most of their time wandering. Fair enough. For us, we actually spend a fair amount of our time away in our room.
I am much of a slow traveller or tourist – whatever name it is lol. We take our time to enjoy a place and because we work 9-5s, we also rest a lot. My travel blogging encourages a relaxed visit to any destination to avoid burn out. Therefore, a mediocre room is never going to work for us. To be quite honest, the Warrender at Cliveden House might be a once in a lifetime kind of room. However, it was well worth the coins.
I’m a believer in enjoying your life within your means and cutting costs where you can. A nice, once-in-a-lifetime, traditional British room is the type of enjoyment I love to indulge in.
This is where I will say I totally recommend the Warrender if you ever find yourself at Cliveden House!
Bisous, ‘Bugo x
