Dalloway Terrace – Brunch Spot Review

Oh Dalloway Terrace! This spot has been a familiar one for some time now and it is one place that when I feel I want a typical brunch or afternoon tea, I can trust that I will get my money’s worth.

I put up a few pictures on  my instagram and I got a few messages about people wanting to know more. Thankfully, I have this blog to go into every tiny detail, which might be useful to everyone planning on visiting.

With the new trend of pretty Instagram-worthy brunch spots springing up, it is important to note that Dalloway Terrace has been one of the trend setters. It opened in Spring 2016 and is open daily from 8am till 10.30pm. As a restaurant with outdoor seating in the usual terrace setting, it offers breakfast, brunch, afternoon tea, all day dining and dessert; so basically, everything!

It was my friend Abi’s birthday a few weeks ago and as I hadn’t seen her this year, we thought to have a brunch date to catch up on all things work, life, travel and even more life! I made reservations and we were set to go! You all know I love orderliness so reservations are super important o me; another reason why Dalloway Terrace is in my top 2 preferred brunch spots.

To noteReservations open 2 weeks before the date you plan to visit so be on the look out as weekend breakfast and brunch time slots get snapped up quickly!

Location

Dalloway Terrace is located about 3minutes from Tottenham Court Road station.

Address is 16-22 Great Russell St, Bloomsbury, London WC1B 3NN. It is close to Soho and just a few streets away from Oxford Street. I feel like its hidden because of its location away from the craziness of Oxford Street.

It is on Bloomsbury Hotel’s terrace and if you know your London history, you’ll know to associate Bloomsbury with Virginia Wolf’s renowned novel, Mrs Dalloway. The area is often associated with English artists, philosophers, theatre actors and writers. As it is quite close to the station and situated centrally, you are better off using the underground or a taxi to drop you off.

Ambiance

Think Luxury, think Boujee, think Elegance, think English. I don’t think I can do this place justice in writing about it without having the pictures to back it up. This restaurant is gorgeous AF! The terrace is warm so even if you were to visit in the winter, you would still have the indoor feel even though it is an outdoor space. The roof is retractable and it opens up further in the summer to let the London sunshine in. There are also various sections to sit at depending on your mood and the availability.

There are over exaggerated gorgeous flower arrangements which serve as pretty backdrops, beautiful marble tables and woven chairs, the atmosphere is relaxed and I would class Dalloway Terrace as quintessentially British, romantic and just perfect.

Menu

The best way to describe the menu is modern British. For brunch, you have a variety to choose from; from pancakes to a rainbow acai bowl to muesli to omelette to burger to the typical English fish and chips. You also get a Croque Madame on the menu and trust me; it is as good as you would have in Paris!

The Menu

I ordered the Berries Buttermilk Pancakes and I had some well-done fried eggs on the side. Abi had the Eggs Benedict with some bacon on the side and some truffle fries. We both ordered mimosas and of course, we had some tea at the end of our brunch.

Buttermilk Pancakes
Well-done Fried Eggs
Eggs Benedict x Bacon
Truffle Fries
Mimosas
Tea (obsessed with this teacup set)

If you have been following my blog, you know that for brunch, I always order Pancakes so this was no different. I love Dalloway Terrace’s pancakes SO much – they’re so fluffy and filling! Everything was delicious. I had some of Abi’s truffle fries, which were very yummy.

Service
The till area

Top-Notch! I mean, there is a reason I always go back to Dalloway Terrace. I’m very intentional about where I spend my coins and rude staff is the easiest way to make sure I will never return so whenever it is said that I went back to a specific spot, be sure that the service is amazing! The lady who served us was very patient, as I could not make up my mind whether to have bacon or eggs on the side; she even helped suggest what tea to try.

I asked for well-done eggs and I got well-done eggs. I know this sounds basic but trust me, the amount of times I specifically ask for something and get another thing which is just not quite what I have asked for, is a lot of times too numerous to count.

Value For Money

It is worth every penny.

The average price of anything on the brunch menu is £12. Most expensive meals are the Fish & Chips at £19, Burger & Fries at £17 and Croque Madame at £14 so I would say that the prices are relatively good especially when you consider the portions. I have noticed that some brunch spots are cheaper (average per plate) but you would need to purchase 2 meals to be satisfied. Therefore, cost per portion, Dalloway Terrace is actually affordable. As with all central spots, 12.5% charge is included in the bill.

The bill is served in literary books. How cool 🙂

I feel like I have gushed enough about Dalloway Terrace but incase you have not yet deduced from all my gushing, I LOVE this spot a lot!! It is the one place I would take my mummy, close friends, sisters and Mr E to because I want them to enjoy and experience it with me. Easily a 5 out of 5 and I cannot think of anything to fault.

Make sure you add this to your list if you have not already been; if you have been what did you think?

Bisous, ‘Bugo x
