The Best Brunch Spots in London

It is no secret that one of my favourite things to do is Brunch especially in London and a category of my blog is dedicated to Brunch Spot Reviews. I’m not sure when exactly brunch became a thing to do in London but it certainly has come to stay! The top brunch spots are always packed especially during weekends and it’s no surprise at all. London has brunch spots springing up everywhere and even existing restaurants are now making allowance for Brunch menus. I have been brunching in London for a few years and these are the best brunch spots London city has to offer!

1. The Ivy Chelsea Garden

Now, this spot might be my all-time favourite brunch spot! Every time a friend visits me, I take them to The Ivy Chelsea just to see their face light up. I remember going there with my friend, Ada and she just kept looking around “wow, this place is pretty” haha! What I love most is the fact that as much as it is a fancy brunch spot with the florals, it is actually great food and good vibes. In front, there is usually a change in floral presentations depending on the season. There is also a garden in the back (my favourite place to brunch) which looks so lush!

I always have their pancakes and some tea whenever I brunch there. However, this one time, I had the monkfish curry for a late brunch (let’s call it lunch, shall we?!). Anyway, it is one spot I foresee myself going back to over and over. The food is great, vibe is grown and price is sensible! Make sure you ask to be sat in the Conservatory or Garden!

2. Bourne & Hollingsworth

I actually did a comprehensive review of B & H but never posted it on the blog. You see, it was somewhere I took my mummy to when she came to see me last year. It was one of our last pictures and videos together. Boomerangs of clinking our juice glasses, her side-eyeing the waiter and one cute video of her smiling. It was a very happy day and I’ll keep those pictures (& post) in my heart instead. B & H has a lush ambiance with terrace seating in the back.

The food is really good as well and it has a lot of variety to choose from. Bottomless brunches are a big selling point for them and the young crowd it draws in directs the exciting vibe. I really enjoyed B & H and from reading my post, I noted that I couldn’t wait to go back. I don’t think I can now, just so I can hold the memories we made. However, it is a really popular and great brunch spot for it not to be included on my list!

3. Bill’s

I think everyone in this country has been to a Bill’s restaurant for brunch or breakfast or lunch or dinner. It is quite a popular chain and has spots in every location you can think of. Most especially, in London! Bill’s is easy, simple and convenient. Everyone I have been to from Covent Garden in London to Exeter has just been comfortable. With a great selection of breakfast and brunch choices, there is something for everyone. Asides from it being a simple brunch spot, it is also very well priced. You get full value for your money.

4. Drunch

I know what you’re thinking. Drunch? But let me tell you, Drunch makes the best pancakes in the whole of London and feel free to quote me anywhere. Their banana and dulche de leche pancake is just ridiculously good! If you’ve been on my blog for some time, you will note that I absolutely abhor walk-in restaurants. That uncertainty of going somewhere to eat and having to queue? Ugh! However, for Drunch’s pancakes, my lovelies, I WILL QUEUE! It’s a small space (with some more seating downstairs).

It’s also one of those floral instagrammable spots so you’ll find people snapping away in front. However, if you can manage to make it inside, you won’t be disappointed.

5. Hotbox, Shoreditch

Shoreditch has some really good brunch spots and my favourite is Hotbox. Quite American with the yummiest French toast you’ll ever have, it is a really cute spot. The only spot where I had mac and cheese, chicken wings and French toast for brunch! Make it make sense! I think I was just feeling very greedy but it was lovely and I enjoyed eating here both times I went.

I will rate Hotbox a strong 8! For reservations visit the Hotbox website as quickly as possible, they sell out pretty quickly! They are also quite popular for their bottomless brunches!

6. Duck n Waffle

It is one of the most popular brunch spots in London probably because of its location and views. It has made it to my best brunch spots in London list because there is nowhere like it. Duck n Waffle is located on the 40th floor of Heron Tower. It has very clear views of the Gherkin and London skyline. A few times I have been there; we saw helicopters land and take off on helipads in the city. Just so cool!

The main brunch here is duck and waffle which seems like a weird combo but it’s actually ok. My guess is that it was derived from the popular chicken and waffle specials you get in the US.

The one thing I will highlight is that there is no pancake choice in Duck n Waffle. I find that quite weird especially for a brunch menu in 2020. However if you are ok with English breakfast, egg dishes and duck and waffle, then this is a lush spot!

7. Coppa Club

This includes the igloos, terrace and restaurant. Coppa Club is one of the best brunch and breakfast spots in London. The views from the terrace and igloos are insane. Especially if you time your visit to coincide with sunset, you get to watch the sunset over Tower Bridge! How romantic is that?!

It is near impossible to get a reservation in the igloos/terrace but it is possible. See how to eat at Coppa Club London igloos without a reservation. This should cover terrace eating as well, when the winter igloos are removed in time for summer! It is worth mentioning that despite all the fanciness, Coppa Club is where I have had the cheapest breakfast ever!

8. Christopher’s

Now where do I start with Christopher’s? I haven’t always had a great love story with Christopher’s and my honest review of my brunch experience explains why. However, my friends would not stop raving about it and inviting me on brunch dates there. So I went a few months later and I am pleased to report that my opinion changed. It was a rather pleasant experience the 2nd (and 3rd) time around!

Christopher’s is popular for its Saturday brunches and martini bar as well so it’s worth checking out! The first time, I had pancakes which I did not enjoy. The next 2 times, I had full English breakfast which was a better option!

9. The Breakfast Club

Does what it says on the cover. It’s a very easy spot to walk in and have a mix of American and British choices. We went to the one in Spitalfields; however there are a lot of them dotted around the city.

Another spot where you can’t reserve over the weekends; I think they love the chaos. I joke! They have a really good system where you register once you get there; you are given a buzzer to go on your jolly way. Once your table is ready, your buzzer alerts you! We had full English breakfast and some brunch cocktails.

Walk-ins only on weekends

10. Harry’s Dolce Vita

Harry’s Dolce Vita is usually my lunch and dinner spot due to its proximity to Harrods. I love having a mooch around Harrods after lunch at Harry’s or before dinner! Their spaghetti frutti de mare is THE TRUTH!!! Listen, that dish is the reason I can comfortably eat at Harry’s every day! However, we are here to discuss brunches right?! LOL.

My friends and I had a Harrods date and wanted to brunch prior. Of course, I had a look at Harry’s and saw they had a brunch option between 11am and 3pm. Booked it and on the Saturday, we headed there for Brunch. We had crab benedict and chips and it was so yummy; hence why Harry’s Dolce Vita has landed on my list for best brunch spots in London! I don’t know if it’ll shift from my lunch/dinner spot to brunch but it is great to know it is a solid option.

11. Dalloway Terrace

Oh my lovely Dalloway Terrace. No argument, one of the best brunch spots in London! I have had brunches and afternoon teas here a few times and I can comfortably say, it is in top 3 of my fave brunch spots! Dalloway Terrace is one of those quintessentially British spots.

Every time I have been, I have always felt very English lol. It’s in the little details from being situated in The Bloomsbury to the bill being presented in books by English authors. Reservations go quite quickly so lock in your dates once decided!

12. Blue’s Kitchen

Another Shoreditch find! Hip, Fun and just a general laidback vibe. Portions in Blue’s Kitchen are quite big; worth keeping that in mind when ordering. I was feeling very hungry and ordered pancakes, English Breakfast and some tea. By the time I was done with my pancakes, I was too full to even eat anything else!

There is a bar for cocktails and even beer (at 11am) and the seating is American diner genre. For big groups where you want to chat as loudly with great food on your table, Blue’s Kitchen it is.

13. Feya

Instagram has seen all angles of Feya because again, it is a very Instagrammable spot. However, it is a really good brunch spot as well. One of the best in London! Feya is very popular with the health-conscious young London crowd especially millennials. The mix of pretty London spot and healthy food is not lost here.

It has fancy names on the menu like Sally meets Benny (avocado or salmon with poached eggs on muffin) and Wisteria Waffles. Yum! Worth pointing out that Feya has a number of vegetarian options, which makes it a great option!

14. Elan Café

You go to Elan café for the ambiance and the food. Elan café is cute, floral and pink. It is the Instagram person’s heaven. There are cakes and sweet treats but the brunch menu is quite limited. However, I will admit that the pancakes are really good. If you can manage the long wait outside (especially on spring/summer Saturdays), it is definitely worth a visit! Something worth pointing out is that although it is reasonably priced, the portions are quite small.

I covered a bit more when I did a full brunch review of Elan café. Florals, Pinks and Food!

To Brunch in London?

I think what makes Brunch in London so popular is the fact that you are able to have breakfast for lunch. Most people’s favourite meal of the day (including me) is breakfast. Full English, Pancakes, Waffles, acai bowls, egg dishes etc. It almost feels naughty to be having eggs for lunch haha! Also, the usual brunch timing allows a lie in on a Saturday morning, take your time and meet up at noon! It just works!

The reality is that there are so many more brunch spots in London at the moment. A lot will also fit into the best spot category; however, as I discover them, I will update the list.

Let’s just say that this is an ongoing best Brunch Spots in London list!
