Drunch – Brunch spot review

I had been to Drunch a few months ago in the summer and I remember having to wait almost an hour to get seated. I know, ridiculous right?! But it was the hot spot of the moment so I really wanted to have brunch there. I enjoyed my meal but I definitely did not feel like I had the full ‘drunch experience’ my friend had raved about probably because by the time we got in after the long wait and had our brunch; I was so over it!

Second time they say is a charm. Or is it third time? I forget.

Anyway fast forward to the cold winter Saturday afternoon. Mr E and I decided to go back to Drunch mainly for the Pancakes. The thing with Drunch is that you cannot reserve online or via telephone. You have to go there and somehow just expect that they are not up to capacity. You would be lucky to just waltz right in and get a seat right off but I’m sure this is as rare as sighting a werewolf!

Described on their website as ‘…an all day dining restaurant and lounge…serving Brunch as well as a range of Signature Juices & Homemade teas’

Location

It’s just off Bond street station; a few minutes walk from Debenhams and Selfridges on Oxford street. The good thing about the location is that it is tucked away from the madness of Oxford street on its own quiet junction between Blenheim and Woodstock streets.

Ambiance

Ok, this is the selling point.

The space is relatively small; probably café sized but it is stunningly pretty! I mean, flower decorations all around its exterior, its interior is quite small but there is a large mirror that opens up the space and the ceiling is adorned with hanging pot plants.

There is seating downstairs but I’m not sure anyone would get the full Drunch experience sat downstairs. I only stumbled upon it because I went downstairs to use the bathroom.

Oh there is also a cute (read: creepy) purple teddy bear on the side of the building that everyone cuddles for pictures. It is cute but I find it creepy nonetheless. Like, why is it there? What exactly does it represent?

Menu + Food

There is a lot to choose from as a typical London brunch spot as there are lots of light meals and sandwiches.

I opted for the club sandwich and Mr E ordered the Drunch beef burger. We ordered the Banana pancakes to share. Ok let me tell you, the banana pancakes are THE BEST I have ever had. If there is one thing you are going to have when you go to Drunch, it SHOULD totally be the Banana & Dulche de Leche Pancakes.

To drink, I had a hot chocolate & glass of berry burst (yes, I was thirsty), Mr E had a glass of berry burst as well. Food was filling and very yummy.

The yummiest club sandwich (very filling too)

Service

This surprised me.

For a very busy restaurant, the waiters were super lovely and patient. We got there at about 1pm and didn’t have to wait as long as the last time; probably because it was cold and wet which meant that people would rather stay home than try to navigate the beast that is Oxford street. We must have waited about 10mins and the waitress immediately cleaned up the table for us to sit, a waiter took our order and in about 10mins, our food was served. So I would say the second time around was the perfect experience.

Value for Money

Drunch is very good value for money. The menu is online which means you can have a look before you go in and plan according to your budget. It is relatively well priced and I think the food portions are sizeable enough for the amount of money being paid. Service charge of 12.5% is also added to your bill.

My Final Thoughts on Brunching at Drunch

Drunch is a 4 out 5. The main negative thing for me is not being able to make a reservation prior to going in which means that there is no guarantee of how long you could be waiting to get a seat. I do love reservations as I like to organise my time. I would go there again but probably not in the summer so I don’t have to wait outside for more than 10-15mins. It is a pretty spot for a date with your partner or girls’ brunch date.

Have you ever been to Drunch? How long did you have to wait to be seated?

Ok more importantly, did you enjoy the meal?

Bisous, ‘Bugo x

Hi Mel, the prices are surprisingly decent. I went with Mr E and it was quite cute and romantic so I think you and hubby will love it!
There’s also one at Regent’s Park but I haven’t been, you could check it out as well x

Lovely review of Drunch, the way you’ve described it reminds me of Cafe East. Have you been there before, also a lovely little restaurant with a cafe feel. Great post!
